Arsenal legend Thierry Henry hailed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag as a genius after the match against the Gunners. Even though the Red Devils lost, the France legend was impressed by the Dutchman.

The Old Trafford side took on the Premier League table-toppers on Sunday (22 January) at the Emirates Stadium. A 90th-minute goal from Eddie Nketiah snatched the three points for the Gunners as the game ended 3-2.

However, speaking after the fixture on CBS Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Henry, who also spent time at Barcelona, was full of praise for Ten Hag. The ex-strike has urged the hierarchy at United to back the Dutch manager.

“I will be honest, I am a big fan of Ten Hag and I like him very much. He is the coach I recommended to [club president, Joan] Laporta after Koeman got sacked at Barca. He is a genius.

“You give one more year to Ten Hag and back him in the market, United will be a force to reckon with. No disrespect to Sir Alex but if Ten Hag gets it right at United, they will play more attractive football than they played under Sir Alex Ferguson.”

United took the lead against the North London side through a brilliant strike from Marcus Rashford. However, Mikel Arteta’s team soon equalised after Nketiah found the back of the net.

The second half saw Bukayo Saka give Arsenal the lead before Lisandro Martinez levelled the game at around the hour mark. However, in the end, it was the Gunners who managed to get the better of us late in the fixture.

The North London side have been on top of their game in the current campaign. Arteta has transformed his team into potential title winners. They are currently five points ahead of reigning champions Manchester City and have a game in hand.

However, the Spanish manager has needed time to take Arsenal back to the top. In previous seasons, the Gunners struggled to even make it into the top four.

However, Ten Hag has done an admirable job at United. After a shaky start to the campaign, the gaffer has found the right balance in his side. We are alive in all four competitions at the moment.

The Red Devils are in a good position right now to finish in the top four. We will also face Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup next. Hopefully, the Dutch manager can continue the progress and help us win major silverware in the coming years.
