Brandon Williams ‘open’ to Manchester United loan exit in January transfer window

Manchester United star Brandon Williams is ‘open’ to leaving the Old Trafford side on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to Manchester Evening News.

With the deadline day set to commence next week, the 22-year-old is willing to move temporarily to a different club for the rest of the season. The England U21 international is looking for regular game time.

Williams’ current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in the summer of 2024, although the Manchester-based club have the option to extend it by a further year.

United are yet to see any departures from the first team this month. A few of our players have had an interest in them from other clubs for a loan transfer.

Williams made his way through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side. In the 2019/20 season, the youngster broke into the Red Devils’ senior side. However, in the following campaigns, the full-back has seen fewer opportunities in Manchester.

Last season, Norwich City came calling for the English national and took him on a temporary move. With the Canaries, the 22-year-old was afforded a lot of minutes on the pitch. However, the Norfolk-based club were unable to survive in the Premier League.

Williams was out with an injury for the first four months of the current campaign. The defender’s lone appearance this season for United came against Burnley in the Carabao Cup as a late substitute.

The 22-year-old is versatile and is capable of playing as a right-back or left-back. However, the Red Devils already have enough depth in those positions. Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are all at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.

At the moment, it looks difficult for Williams to get a chance at United. Therefore, it would be wise for both parties to part ways on a temporary basis for the time being.
