Borussia Dortmund trying to ‘flush out’ buyers of Manchester United target Jude Bellingham with transfer demand
Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are demanding £100 million up front from interested parties for Manchester United target Jude Bellingham, according to The Sun (h/t Express).
The German outfit are trying to ‘flush out’ the potential buyers with their mammoth asking price. In total, BVB want £130 million for the 19-year-old but are asking for most of it to be paid as soon as a deal is agreed upon.
Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool are also eyeing the midfielder’s signature. European giants Real Madrid are also interested in acquiring the England international’s services.
At the moment, Los Blancos are confident about successfully signing Bellingham. United and Liverpool will likely need to secure Champions League football to compete with the Spanish giants.
The 19-year-old is also demanding a £300,000-per-week salary, which will evidently thin out the competition. Dortmund also have to pay five per cent of the transfer fee to Birmingham City due to a sell-on clause.
At BVB, the England international has developed into a fine player. The midfielder has caught a lot of people’s eyes with his displays this season, especially in the Champions League.
Bellingham also shone for the Three Lions at the 2022 World Cup. The 19-year-old started in every fixture for Gareth Southgate’s team in Qatar. But England lost to France in the quarter-finals.
United reinforced the middle of the park in the summer of 2022 with the addition of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. However, they are set to turn 31 in February.

The Red Devils have, over the years, spent an enormous amount on mediocre players. Thus, Dortmund’s demands should seemingly not be a deterring factor for the Old Trafford side. But it remains to be seen whether Bellingham opts to move to the Theatre of Dreams.
For that, the Red Devils should also meet the criterion of being able to afford the price tag being asked up front by the Black and Yellow. On their part, it’s a smart tactic to not waste their time with teams that can’t afford his valuation – but for us, it could be a ultimatum in the race for the England international.
