Manchester United are exploring a deal to bring Mohammed Kudus to Old Trafford
According to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are exploring a deal for Ajax attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus in the January transfer window.
Erik ten Hag has publicly addressed his desire for a forward to bolster his bid for a top-four finish, especially after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo which has left a gaping hole in the team.
Anthony Martial is currently the truly out-and-out forward in the side and his recent injury issues suggest that we cannot just rely on the Frenchman for the entirety of the season.
Therefore, the club has been looking at options for the forward position. Ten Hag plans to raid his former club again after Lisandro Martinez and Antony transfer last summer.
Kudus is the latest name on United’s wishlist with Ten Hag keen on the Ghana international, having already worked with him in the past. It is believed that although no advanced talks have taken place, there are talks of a transfer happening ‘behind the scenes‘.
However, in all genuity, it would be tough for us to prise away Kudus from Ajax after the club lost two of their senior players to us in the summer transfer window. Sure, the Dutch club could be open to doing business but at what cost?
It would be unreasonable to expect their manager to lose good players every transfer window, that too to just one club – where his predecessor is the manager.
Kudus under Ten Hag played as part of the midfield three but this season saw him playing in a more advanced role and he has certainly not disappointed.
In 21 appearances made so far for the Dutch outfit, he has scored 10 goals while assisting another two goals in what is turning out to be an impressive season for the Ghana international.

His ability to play in multiple positions is certainly enticing potential suitors but with his contract expiring in 2025 (Transermarkt), it seems a tough task to prise away the forward, especially in the January transfer window.
