Manchester United ‘battling’ PSG and Juventus for SL Benfica midfielder Cher Ndour
Manchester United are ‘battling’ Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Juventus for the signature of SL Benfica youngster Cher Ndour, according to Tutto Salernitana (h/t Mirror).
The 18-year-old’s current contract with the Eagles expires at the end of the season. As a result, he could be signed for a cut-price in the upcoming transfer window.
Erik ten Hag has already been able to bolster the middle of the park with the signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer of 2022. However, with the pair turning 31 in February, the Red Devils are eyeing long-term options.
As for the French champions, they added a number of talented players to their engine room in the recent transfer window. They added Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler and Renato Sanches to Christophe Galtier’s midfield ranks.
PSG also have other superstars at their disposal. Marco Verratti is one of the best midfielders in world football at the moment. The Parisians can also count on Danilo Pereira to provide solidity in the engine room.
On the other hand, Massimiliano Allegri is struggling with the Old Lady this season. However, young midfielders like Fabio Miretti and Nicolo Fagioli have broken out in the current campaign.
Ndour is yet to make his first-team debut at Benfica. However, the 18-year-old has been impressive for the Primeira Liga outfit’s reserve side. The Italian youngster primarily plays the number eight role.
At the moment, while Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes have cemented their place in our midfield, we seemingly lack quality on the bench. The likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have been unable to convince many fans over the years.
