Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United World Cup returnees looking forward to Premier League restart
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that the players who have returned from the 2022 World Cup are looking forward to the restart of the Premier League.
The Red Devils had several first-team stars like Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, amongst others, in Qatar. Most of our players thrived for their nations at the prestigious tournament.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Ten Hag feels the World Cup returnees have reintegrated themselves into the team at the Old Trafford side. The Dutch manager was impressed with his stars in Qatar.
“The feeling is good. The players from the World Cup are back, are integrated again and you feel they are excited. [They had] massive impressions there [in Qatar], but now they are back, and you feel their energy.
“They are looking forward to the restart [of the Premier League].”
The likes of Rashford, Fernandes and Casemiro were left disappointed at the 2022 World Cup. None of their teams made it out of the quarter-finals of the prestigious tournament.
However, two of United’s stars made it to the end. Raphael Varane started for France, while Lisandro Martinez was on the bench for Argentina in the final.
In the end, it was the 24-year-old who rejoiced as Lionel Scaloni’s team ended up winning the thrilling match on penalties. As a result, the Red Devils now have two World Cup winners in their backline after Les Bleus triumphed in Russia in 2018.
United are currently fifth in the English top flight. We are three points behind Tottenham Hotspur in the table with a game in hand. The Red Devils will face Nottingham Forest next in the league on 27 December.
The Old Trafford side are also alive in every other competition. We recently beat Burnley in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. The Manchester-based club are also set to face Barcelona in the Europa League for a place in the round of 16.
