Manchester United second in race behind Arsenal for Joao Felix
According to The Daily Record (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are second in the race behind Arsenal to sign Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix on a loan deal in January.
Felix’s relationship with the Spanish club (read Diego Simeone) has strained over the past few months. The Argentinian manager does not trust the Portugal wonderkid anymore and has benched him for much of the season so far.
Although Felix has had a pretty decent impact off the bench, it doesn’t seem like his situation will change. It’s best that both parties part ways right now as Felix is too good a player to be warming the benches.
It has now emerged that the Spanish club are willing to part ways with the talented forward on a temporary loan deal for the rest of the season and there is no doubt that there are more than enough clubs interested in the player.
It is being claimed that Arsenal are leading the race to sign the talented Portuguese forward on a loan deal. However, the Red Devils are not too far behind and are very much in the hunt for the Atletico man.
Man United just saw a Portuguese forward in Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club and they could be looking to replace him with yet another player from the same nation. It remains to be seen if they can pull this deal off.
Felix had a decent World Cup with Portugal and it was a timely reminder of his abilities on the biggest stage. He just needs a team that will suit his playstyle and Manchester United under Erik ten Hag could be the perfect match.
Although not a typical nine, Felix has decent goalscoring prowess and his intelligence makes him stand apart from other players. He will be a great acquisition to have in our team and Ten Hag can bring the best out of him.

Felix is at a stage of his career where he is no longer just a promising wonderkid. It’s time we start seeing the promise and let’s hope it’s in a Red Devils shirt. Let’s just hope that Gabriel Jesus’ injury at the 2022 FIFA World Cup doesn’t further strengthen Arsenal’s resolve to sign a striker like Felix.
