Atletico Madrid will ‘allow’ Joao Felix to leave on loan in January amidst Manchester United links
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid will ‘allow’ Joao Felix to leave on loan in the upcoming transfer window amidst links to Manchester United, according to Daily Record (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Los Rojiblancos will consider a temporary move for the Portugal international if Financial Fair Play costs are covered by the interested club. The Spanish side would not want an obligation-to-buy clause in the deal either.
At the moment, the Red Devils are in search of a striker. Cristiano Ronaldo recently departed the club. The 37-year-old’s untimely exit has dwindled our options in the number nine position.
Anthony Martial is the only centre-forward at Erik ten hag’s disposal for now. But the France international has missed most of the season due to recurring injury issues.
The former AS Monaco star’s unavailability has led to Marcus Rashford being deployed up front on several occasions. While the 25-year-old has done well, he leaves a lot to be desired in front of goal.
United have also seemingly struggled to find the back of the net consistently in the current campaign. We have scored 20 goals in the Premier League so far.
Rashford is currently the club’s leading goalscorer. The England international has found the back of the net nine times in all competitions this season.
Felix has not had the best of times at Atletico since his move from Benfica. The Portuguese star has been underwhelming at the Metropolitano Stadium side. However, the 23-year-old showed glimpses of his talent at the 2022 World Cup under Fernando Santos.

So, United are evidently in need of bolstering their forward line. Bringing Felix on loan would mean that the club will not be committed to him beyond the current campaign. Thus, it could be a wise short-term solution.
