Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag hopes Marcus Rashford is able to keep up his form after the 25-year-old’s performance against Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

The Clarets visited Old Trafford on Wednesday (21 December) in the fourth round of the domestic cup competition. However, the Red Devils got the better of the Championship table-toppers as the England international found the back of the net in a 2-0 victory.

“I think he invested a lot once again with a lot of runs behind the defending line and he scored a great goal in the dribble, great finish. I think he is in great form and of course I hope he can keep his focus and this performance.”

The 25-year-old made a solo run from his own half and topped it off with a fearsome finish in the 57th minute. It was our second goal after Christian Eriksen’s strike in the first half.

The England international was substituted in the 85th minute and was replaced by Fred. This term the forward has continued to show that he can be the club’s talisman.

While Vincent Kompany’s team also had a few chances in the game, in the end, the Red Devils managed to see them off. With the victory, we have made it to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Rashford has been in fine form for the Old Trafford side this season. He now has nine goals for the club in 20 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign.

The 25-year-old had struggled to make an impact last term and lost his place in the club and national side. Fortunately, with Ten Hag at the helm, the forward seems to be getting back to his best. The United academy graduate also showcased his talent at the 2022 World Cup under Gareth Southgate.
