Youssoufa Moukoko set to sign new contract at Borussia Dortmund amidst Manchester United interest

Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko is set to sign a new contract at the club amidst interest from Manchester United, according to German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten (h/t The Sun).

Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool are also eyeing the 18-year-old’s signature. However, it seems the Old Trafford side’s pursuit will fail.

The Germany international is expected to extend his stay at BVB, with the forward’s existing deal ending in the summer of 2023. A “positive decision” could be reached between him and the Bundesliga giants soon.

Moukoko has come up through the youth ranks at Dortmund and made himself a regular first-team player this season. In the current campaign, the youngster has made 22 appearances for BVB in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing six assists.

The 18-year-old was a surprise pick for Germany’s 2022 World Cup squad. Hansi Flick chose to select the forward to feature in Qatar even before his international debut.

Chelsea recently signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling to bolster their attack. However, they have seemingly struggled to find the back of the net consistently. On the other hand, Liverpool have Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino in their squad who are available.

As for United, our forward line was depleted after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure just before the start of the 2022 World Cup. Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Marcus Rashford to lead the line for most of the campaign.

The Dutch manager has opted for the 25-year-old since Anthony Martial has been sidelined on most occasions. The French national has suffered with remaining fit this season.
