Atletico Madrid ‘happy’ to sell Manchester United target and Portugal forward Joao Felix
La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid are ‘happy’ to sell Manchester United target and Portugal forward Joao Felix, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t Mirror].
The Red Devils have been linked with the signature of the 23-year-old for some time now. However, Los Rojiblancos have been reluctant to sell him. But the Spanish side seem to have had a change of heart and are ready to part ways with the forward.
Atletico are open to considering offers for Felix in the upcoming January transfer window. His relationship with manager Diego Simeone has deteriorated at the Madrid-based club. The Old Trafford side are currently the first club in the line to sign the Portuguese star.
Bayern Munich are also interested in the 23-year-old. The Bavarians lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona in the summer of 2022. However, they signed a winger Sadio Mane from Liverpool and 17-year-old Mathys Tel from Stade Rennais.
Felix was one of the most sought-after prospects during his time at SL Benfica. Unfortunately, the youngster has been unable to fulfil his potential at Atletico.
In the current campaign, the 23-year-old has mostly come on as a substitute for Los Rojiblancos. He has started just five games in La Liga for the Spanish side.
However, Felix has impressed in Qatar with his national side. Fernando Santos’ team booked their place in the knockout rounds after the first two group-stage fixtures, in which the 23-year-old started. But they lost 2-1 to South Korea on Friday (2 December).
Erik ten Hag has lost an option up top with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, could United opt to replace the Portuguese icon with his compatriot? Only time will tell.

But it is evident that the Red Devils require another number nine to add depth to the attack. Currently, Anthony Martial is our only natural striking option, while Marcus Rashford has been played out of position as a striker as well.
