Arsenal further compound Manchester United’s problems in Michael Olise transfer pursuit

Manchester United handed double Michael Olise ‘blow’ as Arsenal also enter the race

Further complicating matters for Manchester United in their pursuit of Michael Olise of Crystal Palace, Arsenal have joined the race to sign the 22-year-old right winger.

Chelsea already gave United a fairly sized headache in the race to sign Olise, but Arsenal now seem to further compound our issues. According to Manchester Evening News, the pair of London clubs want to get Olise on board from their fellow London club as early as the summer transfer window.

Previously, The Athletic [subscription required] also revealed that Olise would only move to a ‘small number of clubs’ offering Champions League football. That probably means United and Chelsea have nowhere to go in their pursuit of the player.

Time’s up for Antony?

Olise, at 22, would represent a smart investment for Man United. The France U21 international has played a bit-part role this season due to injury, but has been brilliant in the 13 games he’s played this season; scoring six goals and grabbing three assists as well.

Antony has been far from reliable for the Red Devils and has not lived up to Erik ten Hag’s trust. Given the manager’s uncertain future as well, one would assume that his most expensive signing who’s yet to prove half the price tag would also face an uncertain future.

Chelsea’s interest in Olise seems greedy considering Cole Palmer has been brilliant for them on the left wing. Arsenal, on the other hand, have Bukayo Saka. Where would Olise fit in there? The Frenchman can play as a #10, but that is a dying breed. Let’s see if these teams take their interest in the player to the next level, but one can argue that United need him more than any other club in the race to sign Olise.

More Manchester United News-

A £65m release clause should not be a lot for United to handle. Let’s see where it goes for the Red Devils in their pursuit of the player, as the right wing is an issue we HAVE TO SOLVE. Mason Greenwood will likely not make his way back to OT, and it seems like Antony is also done at the club. We have to get in reinforcements.
