Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler urges Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United
Speaking to Fair Betting Sites UK as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has urged Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club as he feels that it is not working between the two parties.
There has been so much criticism about Ronaldo and his attitude towards the Red Devils this campaign. There have been quite a few off-field issues that have plagued the 37-year-old and it is impacting his performances on the pitch.
Ronaldo just does not look the same player anymore and has really struggled to put on a display of any substance this season. He has struggled to score goals like once used to and looks like a pale shadow of his former marauding self.
Erik ten Hag has not really trusted the 37-year-old Portuguese striker with a starting role this season. Although this has changed in recent games, the Dutch tactician preferred to use Marcus Rashford in that position.
Although this could partly be down to the fact that Ronaldo did not have a pre-season behind him, the lack of game time undoubtedly frustrates a player of the 37-year-old’s stature and he has been visibly displeased.
Fowler feels that the relationship between Ronaldo and Man United is beyond repair and it is best that the player leaves the club.
“United knew the type of player they were bringing in. He was brought in to score goals and he has scored goals. Now a different manager has come in. It is quite clear that Ronaldo doesn’t fit into that plan, so the best concern for all parties is if he goes”
“He is still a handful and the way he looks after himself is up there with the better players who have ever lived. (But) The money situation is massive and any club in the world would take him. If he wants to continue to play at a good level then unfortunately for him he will have to take a huge pay cut”
Erik ten Hag keeps insisting that he counts on Ronaldo and that the talented striker will remain at the club for this season at least. However, there is a high chance that the 37-year-old striker could push for an exit from the club.
