Summer 2022 signing Antony reveals Cristiano Ronaldo has helped him settle in at Manchester United

Manchester United forward Antony has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo has helped him settle in at the club since his arrival from Ajax in the recent summer transfer window. The 22-year-old Brazilian joined the Red Devils after a two-year stint in Amsterdam.

Antony reunited with Erik ten Hag in Manchester. The forward had a fruitful spell under the Dutch manager in the Eredivisie. However, the 22-year-old has come to completely new surroundings and will need time to acclimate.

Speaking to the club’s official website (h/t Mirror), Antony revealed he has a lot of conversations with Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also giving the Portuguese speaking forward a lot of advice.

“Since I arrived here, Cristiano Ronaldo has really helped me feel at ease; he speaks to me a lot, on matchdays as well. He always tells me to be calm and confident, he’s achieved so much in football and I learn from him every day.”

Antony has made an immediate impact at United. The Brazilian started for the Red Devils on his debut against Arsenal. The Gunners had not dropped any points up until then. However, we beat them 3-1, with the former Ajax forward scoring the opening goal for the Old Trafford side.

The 22-year-old has started every game since he arrived at the Manchester-based club. In the derby against Manchester City, Antony scored a long-range effort to get a goal back for United. However, we eventually ended up losing 6-3.

The Brazilian again put his name on the score sheet at

Goodison Park. Antony scored at the quarter-hour mark to equalise for the Red Devils. The strike meant the 22-year-old scored goals in his first three competitive games for the Old Trafford side.

Everton had opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the fixture. But Ronaldo scored the winning goal of the game, beating Jordan Pickford just before half-time. It was the 37-year-old’s 700th club career goal.

Antony has not had the best of in the Europa League, though. The Brazilian has been underwhelming at times and has had a hard time making an impact in the games.

However, Antony is a player with a lot of potential. Being under the wing of someone like Ronaldo will evidently help the 22-year-old. Whether the Brazilian becomes the next big star in Manchester remains to be seen.
