Victor Lindelof gives his thoughts after 200th appearance for Manchester United against Everton
Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof completed 200 appearances for the Red Devils as he started against Everton on 9 October in the Premier League. The Sweden international played the full 90 minutes at Goodison Park.
Lindelof signed for United from Benfica in the summer of 2017. Over the years, the 28-year-old has grown into his role in the squad.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the 2-1 victory over Frank Lampard’s team, Lindelof stated he was prepared to step onto the pitch whenever called upon.
“I am always ready. Whenever the coach and the team needs me I am always there and of course I know what I can do out on the pitch.
Everton took the lead early on in the fifth minute through an Alex Iwobi strike. However, Antony equalised for the Old Trafford side at the quarter-hour mark. It was the Brazilian’s third consecutive Premier League game getting on the scoresheet.
Anthony Martial was subbed off in the 29th minute, with Cristiano Ronaldo coming on. The Portuguese found the back of the net just before half-time to give the Red Devils the lead. It marked the 37-year-old’s 700th club career goal.
United defended well at the end at Goodison to keep hold of the three points. Lindelof was delighted at completing the double-century landmark for the Red Devils.
“It’s a very special feeling and hopefully I can [achieve] some more.”
The Sweden international has seemingly fallen down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag. United signed Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the recent transfer window. The Dutch manager has preferred the Argentine and Raphael Varane in the back four.
Harry Maguire and the 2018 World Cup winner have been on the sidelines for the last couple of games. Thus, Lindelof has gotten his opportunities in the defence.

The defender has been affected by injuries as well this season, which has hampered the 28-year-old’s game time. It remains to be seen whether the Sweden international keeps his place against Omonia Nicosia on 13 October.
