Juventus consider move for Lazio midfielder and Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been linked with Manchester United in the past, is being eyed by Juventus, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t The Sun).
The Old Lady are looking to make a move for the Serbian in the January transfer window. The 27-year-old’s current contract with the Biancocelesti ends in 2024.
United were interested in Milinkovic-Savic in the recent transfer window as well. However, a move failed to materialise. His agent had claimed in the summer that the midfielder wanted Champions League football.
Juventus are on a bad run currently. The Italian giants sit eighth in the Serie A table. They also lost 2-0 to Maccabi Haifa on 11 October and are on the verge of a potential group stage exit in the 2022/23 UCL campaign.
United’s reinforced midfield
On the other hand, United have found their feet in recent weeks. The only blip we have had in the Premier League since the Brentford defeat was the 6-3 drubbing at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City broke our four-game win streak in the league in the derby. However, the Red Devils have since bounced back with victories over Omonia Nicosia and Everton.
Our midfield was reinforced in the summer with the arrival of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. And the two have made an immediate impact. The Denmark international has made the number eight position his own.
On the other hand, the former Real Madrid star started his first game in the English top flight at Goodison Park. While Casemiro initially struggled against Frank Lampard’s team, he picked up the Man of the Match award in the end.
