Transfer News: Inter Miami are interested in Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo
MLS side Inter Miami are interested in Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, but there is one condition to their offer as per the Daily Star.
The MLS side is owned by former United superstar David Beckham and they are said to be willing to pay the Portuguese international a whopping £30 million annual salary to lure him to the United States.
However, they want to poach the forward for a free transfer. This comes after their current striker Gonzalo Higuain announced his retirement from the game at the end of this campaign.
Higuain’s retirement will free up space for Ronaldo, should a move go through. However, their desire to get the player on a free transfer may prove to be a stumbling block.
Ronaldo’s current contract runs till 2023 with an option to extend it for another year. United want to keep the star at the club for the rest of this season and refused to sell the player for less than £15 million during the summer.
The Portuguese international has been having a horrible season so far. The 37-year-old has only scored one goal so far in all competitions and has also just started one league game for the Manchester-based club.
While his form on the pitch has been poor, the five-time Ballon D’or is still a huge money-spinner for the club and its partners. Losing him on a free transfer could hurt the coffers of the club in a pretty bad way.

It remains to be seen if the 37-year-old is willing to leave for MLS yet. A January move is highly unlikely, though nothing can be said for the next summer. We believe it will eventually come down to the player to make a decision.
