Confirmed Manchester United starting XI to face Southampton
Manchester United take on Southampton at the St. Mary’s stadium today. The Red Devils come into this game after beating Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford last Monday.
The Red Devils got off to a horrific start in the Premier League under manager Erik ten Hag, losing 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening day of the season before a 4-0 thrashing against Brentford.
However, a couple of brave selection calls helped against the Reds. Ten Hag dropped Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench and replaced Harry Maguire in the starting XI with Raphael Varane.
The Frenchman was paired with summer signing Lisandro Martinez, and Maguire’s exclusion came as a shock as he was kept as our team’s captain for this season.

The Dutch manager had another big decision to make regarding Maguire and Ronaldo today. To add to that, he has our new number 18, Casemiro, fit and raring to go.
The Brazil international, in Ten Hag’s own words, is fit for the game. Anthony Martial, however, was expected to miss out against the Saints after suffering an injury in the win against the Reds, where he assisted Marcus Rashford’s goal that made it 2-0 on the night for us.
Ten Hag has taken his call, and here is the confirmed Man United starting XI to take on the Saints today. He has opted to bench Ronaldo and Maguire once again, while Casemiro too is on the bench.
Southampton have also revealed their full line-up, as it is the rule to do so one hour before kick-off. Here is what Ralph Hasenhuttl has gone with:
