Kevin Trapp guaranteed game time if he moves to Manchester United
Manchester United have offered Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp guaranteed game time if he were to move to Old Trafford this transfer window, according to Sport1 (h/t Metro).
Trapp is a regular in the starting XI of the Bundesliga outfit. The Red Devils currently have David de Gea in between the sticks and a place in the team isn’t guaranteed. Thus, the 32-year-old has reservations about moving to Manchester with the World Cup around the corner.
However, United have assured the German of game time. De Gea is considered ‘shaky’ internally at the club. The Spaniard’s contract expires in a year. Thus, the club seem to be looking for a replacement.
Trapp won the Europa League with Frankfurt last season. The German side is set to compete in the Champions League in the 2022/23 campaign.
De Gea is the number one at Man United
United failed to make it to the top four last season, finishing sixth. However, De Gea was one of our best players in the previous campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
Having seemingly lost his form after the 2018 World Cup, the 31-year-old struggled in between the sticks for the Red Devils. But the Spaniard vindicated himself last season, being clutch in a disappointing side.
Erik ten Hag currently has De Gea and Tom Heaton in the squad to count on. Dean Henderson left the club this summer and joined Nottingham Forest on loan.
Our number didn’t start the new campaign well. The first game against Brighton and Hove Albion saw us lose 2-1. Against Brentford in the second fixture, De Gea made a couple of errors as United lost 4-0. The Dutch manager wants the team to play out from the back and the Spaniard has struggled.

Thankfully, De Gea was back to his best against Liverpool as United won 2-1. The Spaniard made some crucial saves. However, fans who’ve seen Trapp play feel he’s better with the ball at his feet. If the Red Devils were to sign the German, it would be interesting to see who Ten Hag trusts.
