Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo misses training session citing family reasons
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has missed the latest training session, having cited family reasons as the cause. This update has caused further worries within the fanbase after it was revealed earlier that he wants to leave this summer.
Ronaldo was expected to arrive for training on Monday, with Erik ten Hag being in line to have a first glance at the superstar in action. However, that has not happened after the striker failed to arrive for the session due to “family reasons”, which was accepted by Man United
Cristiano is frustrated by the Red Devils’ lack of business in the transfer market, which has led to him wanting to depart in this transfer window. The clubs and the player were expected to have talks today regarding his future, but that is now rescheduled following this latest development.
Is there more to this situation?
The timing of the Portuguese international’s action has certainly left a mark when it comes to uncertainty surrounding his future. While the Manchester side has no intention to sell him, it would still be worrying to see Ronaldo looking to leave for elsewhere ahead of the next season.
The Mancunians could keep hold of the 37-year-old against his wishes due to his contract still having 12 months left as of now. But that is certainly not good for the squad morale and harmony, especially when we are looking to turn a new leaf under ten Hag.
We certainly cannot afford to lose the former Real Madrid man right now, considering how there are no other centre-forward options in the squad at this moment. Edinson Cavani’s exit has left us in this situation, with Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial not being natural replacements for that role.
As such, ten Hag is left in a concerning situation with the pre-season nearing closer by the day. Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Napoli have been touted to be potential destinations for Ronaldo, but whether a move would materialise or not would need to be seen as time passes on.

It would be in our best interests that this matter is solved as soon as possible as our focus should be on improving the squad rather than wasting efforts on such situations. There have been suggestions among the fans that this move could be to put further pressure on the club, but whether that is the case or not would need to be seen.
