Manchester United are set to rival Liverpool for the signing of Fulham teen sensation Fabio Carvalho
According to Daily Star, Manchester United will pursue Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho, who is also on the radar of arch-rivals Liverpool. The Merseysiders were close to securing his services but had a £5 million bid rejected by the Cottagers on deadline day in the January window.
The 19-year-old is thought to be one of the hottest properties in England. The likes of Arsenal, West Ham, and Tottenham are also thought to be monitoring his situation but Man United and Liverpool are said to be leading the race to secure his services at the moment.
He has developed well under the guidance of Scott Parker and has already cemented his place as a regular for the Championship side at such a young age. Those who watch him play would perhaps agree that he is a player that may not find life too difficult in the Premier League.
Carvalho can play as a winger as well as an attacking midfielder but is predominantly deployed in the middle of the park. The teenager could be a great long-term asset for the club and his experience in the second tier of English football could help him get acquainted with his surroundings in a better manner should he make the switch to Old Trafford.
What next for Fabio?
Manchester United already possesses a plethora of options in the middle of the park, such as Bruno Fernandes, Jesse Lingard, and Donny van de Beek. Whilst the Dutch international is on loan to Everton and an air of mystery surrounding the future of Lingard, the 19-year-old could help futureproof the midfield and take over the reins from the former Sporting CP midfielder when the time is right.
Klopp’s men could loan the playmaker straight back to Craven Cottage should they secure his services and Fulham win promotion. That may certainly be an added bonus for the Londoners, considering they are top of the Championship after playing 31 games.
Whilst Fabio Carvalho may sound like a smart acquisition for the future, it is believed that Liverpool has already negotiated a fee for the Fulham starlet.
