Manchester United star Jesse Lingard to choose abroad transfer over Tottenham Hotspur
According to Alasdair Gold, the Spurs’ correspondent of Football.London, Manchester United star Jesse Lingard could prefer to move abroad and play for a foreign club over joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window. He is in line to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current season following a difficult campaign that has severely limited his playing time.
Lingard will be eligible to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign when his contract at Old Trafford expires. Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing him to boost their squad and have already held discussions regarding a potential move a few weeks ago. More talks could take place in the coming months ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, there have been some “indications” that the Englishman would look to leave England altogether instead of moving to a direct rival. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops in the months ahead of the summer transfer window.
Good for Man Utd
With a contract extension off the table, this update would be music to the ears of the Red Devils if it eventually turns out to be true. After all, we would not want one of our direct rivals to be strengthened by the 29-year-old’s addition next summer.
The Man United ace has already shown that he can excel when given adequate chances to make his case. That was the case during his loan spell at West Ham United, as he helped them qualify for this season’s Europa League. It was the same when he played for us during pre-season and the early stages of this season.
However, for some unknown reason, the England international was cast aside since then, severely restricting his playing time. It is good to know that the attacking midfielder does not want to ruin his relationship with us by joining a direct rival in the summer transfer window.

That could arguably be one of the reasons why the Red Devils star has intentions to move outside England over joining Spurs. However, since further negotiations can take place in the future, it remains to be seen how this situation would develop ahead of next summer.
One would have thought that the English star may have entertained the idea of teaming up with Antonio Conte considering the way we treated him last month. The entire debacle surrounding his failed move to Newcastle United could have left a foul taste in his mouth, but that seems not to be the case right now.
