Manchester United and Flamengo agree terms on the permanent transfer of Andreas Pereira
According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United and Flamengo have finally agreed on terms for the permanent transfer of Andreas Pereira. The Brazilian joined the South American giants on loan last summer and is now set to make his switch permanent.
Flamengo will pay €10.5million in transfer fees to Man United for the services of Pereira. Interestingly, a sell-on clause of 25 per cent is also included in the agreement, further sweetening things up for the Red Devils. The club now stands to gain a small windfall should the Selecao star secure a lucrative move in the future.
The 26-year-old has also accepted the deal, paving the way for an official announcement soon. Pereira appears to have rediscovered his mojo since returning to Brazil and the permanent switch to Flamengo offers him the opportunity to rekindle his career.
Good business from Man Utd
The Brazilian joined Man United from PSV Eindhoven for £135k way back in 2012. Despite promising much, he never quite reached the desired levels and was predominantly sent out on loan. Pereira appeared to have no future at Old Trafford and the Red Devils have done well to recoup a handsome amount from Flamengo for his services.
The board did a great job with this move, even if they made poor decisions regarding the midfielder in the past. They offered the outcast a ridiculous four-year contract back in 2019, which was puzzling, to say the least, given his inability to perform.
Since the former PSV man would have entered the final year of his contract next summer, it was now or never for the club to recoup an acceptable transfer fee. Thankfully Man United have delivered. In many ways, it is a win-win for all parties involved.

The Brazil international already has five goals and one assist to his name from 25 appearances for Flamengo. That is a better output compared to the four goals and five assists from 75 matches for Man United. Winner of the Denzel Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year Award in 2015. It is by far the standout moment during his time at Old Trafford.
Earlier, it was claimed that a deal of £12m plus bonuses was agreed for Pereira’s transfer, but that seems to have been proven false by this latest update. That would have been better for us, but it would have been too good to be true. It still is a decent amount for a player who has struggled to perform for us when given an opportunity.
