Manchester United target Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans amidst Juventus interest
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have identified Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as a transfer target amidst interest from Juventus. The Red Devils are desperate for some midfield signings in their ranks, having struggled to maintain balance in the middle of the park during games.
Man United have plans to bring in a world-class midfielder next summer, with West Ham United’s Declan Rice and Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips also on the shortlist. However, they are fearful about being priced out for Rice following West Ham’s £100million price tag for the player. Phillips, meanwhile, is close to extending his deal at Elland Road and has no plans to move to Old Trafford due to their bitter rivalry.
Tielemans has been identified as an alternative option, and the Red Devils believe Leicester could part ways with him for around £40million. The Belgian will enter the final year of his current deal at the end of this season which could hand Man United some leeway in negotiations. Juve would undoubtedly be a threat as they look to rebuild their squad following a disappointing couple of seasons.
Good option for Man Utd?
The 24-year-old is renowned for his excellent technical abilities and can break through opposition defences with ease. He also has the knack to get in on the goal involvement tally, making him an exciting prospect for any team. He is not too shabby on the defensive end as well, even if there is room for improvement.
The Belgian has made 26 appearances this season, netting six times and making three assists across all competitions. His output has been at a time when the Foxes struggled to get going under Brendan Rodgers throughout this campaign. That means the central midfielder could perform at a higher level in a stable environment as he did in the past.
With Paul Pogba’s and Jesse Lingard’s contracts up this summer, we could potentially lose them both on free transfers. We still do not know what lies in store for Donny van de Beek whereas the ageing Nemanja Matic needs to be phased out of the team. Fred and Scott McTominay lack the technical skills required in midfield, making the Leicester star’s capture a sort of necessity.

The Premier League ace has already mentioned his desire of playing in the Champions League in the future. That is unlikely to happen at his current club due to their circumstances at this instant. The Bianconeri have improved in recent times and are mounting a challenge to get into the CL places.
Our situation is a lot more difficult as we dropped points against Burnley in the league. The Manchester club needs to make improvements in the coming months to ensure a top-four finish amid competition from West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. That is essential if we have plans to land the Belgian international ahead of next season.
