Transfer News: Juventus make their move for Manchester United target Denis Zakaria
According to transfer news from Fabrizio Romano via Fansided, Italian giants Juventus have registered their opening offer for Manchester United target Denis Zakaria.
In this campaign, Denis Zakaria has been one of the stand-out performers for Borussia Moenchengladbach. The Swiss star has shown top-notch consistency throughout the season and has bagged two goals and one assist in 18 appearances for Die Fohlen.
His level of performance seems to be increasing every passing day. In contrast, the Switzerland international’s relationship with the Moenchengladbach board hasn’t improved lately. Despite having only six months left in his current contract, the defensive midfielder hasn’t signed an extension and appears to be on his way out.
Manchester United have been one of the interested parties who have been on Zakaria’s case for some time now. There have also been instances of growing interest after the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, a familiar name in German football circles.
The Red Devils manager has been involved with German grassroots level football for over three decades and profoundly recognizes the top players. His executive role at RB Leipzig also brought him closer to the executive decisions. So by bringing in such an influential personality, Man United seemed to be in a comfortable position in the race. But not anymore!
Fabrizio Romano suggests Italian giants Juventus have launched their first bid worth €7million plus add ons in order to convince the German club. Gladbach is yet to reflect, but they are expected to make a decision soon.
Zakaria’s contract is set to end in the summer. It’d be ideal for Gladbach to try to offload him in the January transfer window to eliminate the risk of losing him for free in the summer. After all, something is better than nothing.

Zakaria could be a viable replacement for dutch star Donny van de Beek who is close to leaving Old Trafford one loan. However, Man United have to hurry if they want to secure the services of the Swiss star. To beat the offer of Juventus, our board should make a better offer or agree to keep him on loan for the rest of the season in Germany. Such an offer could convince the German team to sell one of their key players to us at a throwaway price.
