Manchester United enter transfer race to sign River Plate and Argentina striker Julian Alvarez amidst major European interest
According to Ole (h/t ESPN), Manchester United have entered the transfer race to sign River Plate and Argentina striker Julian Alvarez amidst interest from major European clubs. He is one of the most highly-rated young strikers in South America and has earned widespread plaudits for his performances.
The 21-year-old will see his current contract expire in December 2022, which makes a transfer for him even more desirable. Whatsmore, he has a release clause worth €20million which seems like a good deal considering his quality and ceiling. As a result, clubs across Europe like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen have kept tabs on him for a while.
Man United have eyed him as an option to replace Edinson Cavani at the end of the 2021-22 season. His quality, alongside the cost, could be achievable for them and they are keeping a close eye regarding a potential move to Old Trafford in the future. However, high competition for his signature would make it challenging, and we need to be ready to face them if we want to bring him to our club.

The Argentinian has scored 36 goals alongside 25 assists from 96 appearances throughout the time he has played for his club. That is an excellent output to have, which also validates the interest and hype around the youngster. This has also seen him make a genuine claim to break into the senior national team.
Players like Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard have uncertainty surrounding their respective futures in our starting lineup which could open more spots for the addition of the River Plate star. Cristiano Ronaldo would probably start most games, but he does not have many footballing years ahead of him, and we should plan for when he departs our club.
Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga are great options for the future but added competition can only benefit the trio. Moreover, the aforementioned English duo is more than comfortable playing down the wings as well. The South American would be a useuful signing in that case and would also increase the competition among the starlets.

The Argentine starlet is making big waves down in South America. Those who have watched him can attest to the claim that he is a very able striker capable of dribbling well with the ball while also having a great shot on him. He is not a shabby runner as well and can blitz past defenders on certain occasions.
It would be interesting to see how the situation develops as he is in the final year of his contract. He could be one to push us forward to reach the top in the future. It would be difficult as the big clubs mentioned above have similarly identified this as an opportunity and would pose a great challenge for us.
