Ralf Rangnick to take charge as interim coach of Manchester United ahead of Arsenal clash
According to GOAL, Ralf Rangnick could be the interim coach of Manchester United for the match against Arsenal in the Premier League. United will host the Gunners at Old Trafford on 2 December, where he is poised to be on the touchline.
He had agreed to take the managerial role temporarily till the end of the 2021-22 season. The news broke on Thursday that he reached an agreement with the Glazers and, it was soon to be made official. The current delay is due to the changes in procedures for getting a work permit which has been in effect post-Brexit.
Rangnick is highly influential and widely respected across German football and has played a glaring role in shaping the recent success of RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg. Managers like Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, for example, have been influenced by his methods which are noticeable in the way they ask their teams to play.
His contract with the Red Devils has an option to continue as a consultant for two more years. In recent years, he has been in more of a behind the scenes role where he could influence the way the club is run rather than a coach who focuses on on-the-pitch actions.
That was the case with the Red Bull group and his current affiliation with Lokomotiv Moscow. The German was made the head of sports and development of Lokomotiv in the summer on a three-year contract. However, Man United will not have to pay any compensation to the Russian side for his services.
A brighter future to come?
The arrival of the 63-year-old could be massive as many have felt that the Manchester club have not been run properly for years. That may be down to various reasons like the inability to aim at long term success or the failure to replace Sir Alex Ferguson.

The most exciting part of his arrival is that he could continue at the club for more years and implement what he did in his previous tenures. There are issues behind the scenes that need fixing and, success on the pitch is not achievable without solving them. It could be the breakthrough that we fans have been hoping for for quite some years.
