Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lavishes praise on incoming Manchester United interim-boss Ralf Rangnick
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up on German tactician Ralf Rangnick potentially taking over as the interim manager at Manchester United.
The Red Devils are currently without a permanent manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking earlier in the week. The Norwegian was already under pressure following several poor results and the 4-1 hammering against Watford sealed his fate.
While the Red Devils will apparently wait until the summer to find a permanent manager, they have left no stone unturned in their current search for an interim boss. The man who looks set to take over is 63-year-old Rangnick, who will then take up a consultation role at the end of the campaign.
A veteran visionary
One of the transformational coaches of his generation, Rangnick has helped the likes of TSG Hoffenheim and recently, RB Leipzig, establish themselves as Bundesliga mainstays. He also mentored a number of top tier coaches, including Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
Perhaps ironically, the Red Devils will take on Tuchel’s Chelsea this weekend. While Rangnick is unlikely to take charge by then, he will surely be watching. His potential arrival has already started to give our biggest rivals, Liverpool, sleepless nights.
The usually candid Jurgen Klopp was particularly effusive in his praise of Rangnick and believes his appointment is bad news for other Premier League sides.
“That’s obviously not good news for other teams.”
Meeting your maker
The Reds boss is among the best in the business and helped bring ‘gegenpressing’ to the English shores. Rangnick is the visionary behind the tactic and is often dubbed the ‘godfather of ‘gegenpressing’. Given that Klopp takes much of his coaching philosophy from Rangnick, he has every right to be worried.
He has also backed Man United to be more organized under his German compatriot. This is a welcome relief given the tactical naivete that we have shown in recent weeks under Solskjaer.
“Unfortunately another good manager is coming to England, and to Man United. United will be organised on the pitch.”
Unlike Solskjaer, Rangnick is a stickler for details and will leave no stone unturned in his efforts to rebuild the Red Devils dynasty. There is every reason to believe that the Red Devils might strike gold with the 63-year-old.

Apart from Klopp, the Premier League also boasts some of the biggest names in management in their midst with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel, Tottenham Hotspur’s Antonio Conte and Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United all vying for glory in the same league.
This is not even taking into account former Champions League winner Rafael Benitez at Everton, Premier League champion Claudio Ranieri at Watford and the impressive duo of Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers.
Adding Rangnick into the mix will just make the competition tougher. But at long last, Man United have a man at the helm who can compete with the best. At the very least, there is renewed optimism now at the Theatre of Dreams.
