Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reiterates that he feels safe at Manchester United amidst calls to sack him ahead of the Watford game
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that he feels safe at Manchester United despite calls to sack him ahead of the game against Watford.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Norwegian. Few feel he has done justice to his job this season after the dire start to the campaign.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho were blockbuster transfers but they are yet to gel into the system. The formation was changed recently, but the results did not. The defeat to Man City looked like the final nail in the coffin, with the board expected to make a decision in the international break.
However, the 48-year-old is in charge of the Watford game. He revealed ahead of the game that he feels safe at Old Trafford despite calls to sack him.
“Yeah, the players, the staff, myself, the club, we are working to one goal to improve, get better results, fans are still supporting the team and the club, they’ve been through this period, backed the team through the rebuild.”
Solskjaer is aware that in a pressure-driven profession, results dictate how secure managers are in their job. As things stand, the week has been good in terms of training and hopefully, the results on the field will reflect that.
“WHEN YOU LOSE A GAME, YOU’RE ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED, AND UNDER PRESSURE, WE’VE BEEN COMMUNICATING OPENLY AND HONESTLY. THERE’S ONE GAME THAT MATTERS AND WHAT GOES ON AFTER THAT. THIS WEEK HAS BEEN REALLY GOOD FOR TRAINING.”

The Red Devils have conceded 15 goals in their last six games across all competitions. Raphael Varane is out for the game, and the defence shall have to be tight on Saturday. The attack needs to be firing again after shooting blanks against Man City.
The former United striker is under intense pressure at Old Trafford, and if things are to turn around, a victory on the weekend will be a positive step in that direction.
