Emmanuel Petit reveals Zinedine Zidane is learning English amidst links to Manchester United job
Speaking to booksmakers.co.uk (h/t The Sun), Emmanuel Petit reveals that Zinedine Zidane is learning English amidst links to the Manchester United job.
The Red Devils have endured a rough patch of form in the last two months. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not been able to guide the club to silverware and could be facing the sack soon.
Zinedine Zidane has been linked with the job since he is one of the few top managers that are currently unemployed. The Frenchman led Real Madrid to three successive Champions League trophies and left the job this summer.
His man-management of stars and integration of youth could be an influencing factor for United to be interested in him. In fact, the Old Trafford outfit has now received a boost as Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit revealed that his former French national teammate is learning English.
“If you are a manager of a football club, you need to speak different languages. I know Zinedine speaks different languages, but I’m pretty sure English is not one of them.”
Petit also claimed that it would be a big problem if he does not understand the language.
“I’ve been told that he has been learning English recently, so I think he knows it’s important for his career, but Zinedine being linked with Manchester United – I don’t believe it, to be honest.”

While all of these factors point towards the Frenchman opening to the prospect of replacing Solskjaer, it is thought that his wife, Veronique is not keen on living in Manchester. This could be a huge stumbling block in the process of appointing the former Real Madrid boss.
Regardless, Brendan Rodgers and Erik Ten Hag are also in contention for the job. However, both managers are committed to their respective jobs, and United might have to lure them out with a hefty-pay package and an attractive project to lead them back to their glory days.
