Manchester United incur massive increase in wages due to Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho
According to Daily Mail Online, Manchester United have suffered a massive increase in wages due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window. The club have released a financial report for the first quarter of the year.
The statement revealed that the wage bill increased to a massive £354million a year because of the transfer dealings in August. A 23.1 per cent increase in salary was noted as a result of the arrival of the trio superstars.
United would be happy to have earned an increase in revenue from £109m in 2020 to £126.5m as fans started returning to the stadium. Commercial earnings also increased by eight per cent but, the broadcasting revenue continues to take a hit due to the domestic matches not being a guarantee on television.
The Red Devils also earned £17.4m in income as transfer earnings due to the sale of Daniel James to Leeds United and the sell-on clause activated by the transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea. The sum due for the summer transfer dealings is paid in instalments over the years.
That is why the club has earned an income in this department as the total due amount constitutes £127m. However, Man United still has a high net debt which stands at £439million, which needs to be under control.

Things are far from rosy on the field as the English club has been torrid this season and could even be in a worse situation. The summer signings were done to challenge at the top, and there have been no signs of any improvement.
Woodward and the board might need to rethink how they run the club, looking at the circumstances.
