Manchester United could orchestrate a swap deal that could see Jules Kounde come to Old Trafford and Anthony Martial join Sevilla.

Manchester United receive Jules Kounde transfer boost as player hints at Sevilla exit in January

According to the player’s official Twitter account (h/t The Sun), Jules Kounde put up a cryptic tweet hinting that he could be ready to leave Sevilla in January amidst interest from Manchester United.

The 23-year-old is fast becoming one of the best young centre-backs in the game. Sevilla have been incredible defensively this season, and a lot of it has to do with Kounde. The Frenchman has been turning heads since helping the Spanish side win the UEFA Europa League in 2020.

He recently achieved national accolades as well, after helping Les Bleus win the UEFA Nations League. In fact, Chelsea wanted to conclude a deal for the defender this summer with a bid of £42.8million.

However, the La Liga outfit decided against it and remained determined on the £69million release clause of the centre-back. Man United are now looking to advantage of the situation as they also joined the race to sign the youngster.

The French international already has a good partnership with Raphael Varane, and the duo could form a great partnership at the back for the Red Devils. Moreover, Harry Maguire has looked off his game for nearly three months now. Thus, quality reinforcements need to be brought in.

The Sevilla star has now handed a boost to the clubs interested in him by posting a cryptic tweet. Kounde tweeted the song lyric of Warren G’s 2015 track ‘Keep On Hustlin.’ It read:

“Can’t stop gotta claim what’s mine.”

If the defender is subtly hinting at an exit, the Old Trafford outfit would surely take notice but fans should perhaps not read too much into the words posted on a social media website.

In recent history, most clubs have won major titles on the back of stellar defensive records. There has been a lot of pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past two months, and some mid-season additions shall do a world of good for him, especially if hopes to lift the biggest trophies this season.

If Kounde becomes a part of that backline remains to be seen.
