Transfer News: Real Madrid looking to make move for Manchester United target Aurelien Tchouameni
According to Marca (h/t Mirror), Spanish giants Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, who is also on the radar of Manchester United.
Tchouameni, who will turn 22 into January, is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in France right now and United are willing to bring him to Old Trafford as replacement for Paul Pogba, whose current contract expires next summer.
However, the Madrid-based club is trying to beat English club for his signature and at the same time are also looking to prize away Pogba on a free transfer next summer.
United or any other club who wants the Monaco star will need to fork out no less than €45-50m for his services.
The Red Devils spent heavy cash this summer on likes of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, and Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus. However, the Red Devils did not bring in a defensive midfielder, a position which seems like it could use a bit of strengthening right now.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid may need to perform major surgery on the team’s midfield over the next couple of years. Luka Modric is almost at the end of his career at 36.
Hence, it would be a feisty tussle if the Manchester-based giants lock horns with Los Galacticos for the French youngster. The latter already brought in Eduardo Camavinga this summer despite him being linked with a switch to Old Trafford, and the club should ensure that they do not lose out to another midfielder target to them- if their interest in Tchouameni is real and serious.
