Manchester United midfielder Fred celebrated after Brazil managed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Manchester United ace Fred took to social media to celebrate Brazil qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup
The 28-year-old midfielder shared his jubilation after the Seleção Canarinho managed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after a slender 1-0 victory against Columbia courtesy of a Lucas Paquetá strike in the 72nd minute. He wrote on his Instagram account (translated to English from Portuguese):
“Let’s go to the Cup! Congratulations to everyone who has been part of the campaign so far. First objective successfully achieved. We keep working for our biggest dream. GO BRAZIL!”
The supporters would be in awe and this would be great news for the former Shakhtar Donetsk who has had to face some difficult times with Man united. The Red Devils have struggled against the top teams this season and the Brazilian midfielder has come under scrutiny in recent time along with his midfield partner Scott McTominay.
Fred started the game off and picked up a yellow card in the 34th minute of the game. He was then replaced by upcoming Real Madrid starlet Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian team dominated the match and were more adept at creating an attacking dominance on the given day.
They were also strong in position with the midfield tussling and fighting for every ball. The Brazilian football team are comfortably sitting in top position in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier group at the moment. They are top of the table after 12 matches and are comfortably sitting in pole position with 34 points.
Argentina are second with a huge gap of nine points after having played 11 matches themselves. Despite having a tough time at Old Trafford at the beginning of his career Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has put his faith in Fred and made him a key part in the double pivot alongside McTominay.
The 28-year-old Brazilian has already played 133 games for the Red Devils during which time he has scored 5 goals and given 7 assists across all competitions for the Manchester-based club. Man United have been struggling to maintain their consistency in recent weeks and have been leaking a lot of goals at the back during the same time.
