Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong set to return from Birmingham City after suffering an injury

According to an official club statement (h/t Twitter/ ESPN’s Rob Dawson), Tahith Chong is set to return to Manchester United from his loan spell with Birmingham City after suffering an injury.

Chong joined the United set-up at the tender age of 17 and made it through the ranks at the club, featuring in their U-18 and U-23 side in the span of two years before making it into the senior side.

However, game-time was always going to be an issue in the first team and, thus, the Englishman secured a loan move to Werder Bremen at the start of last season. He was later recalled from his loan move and sent to Club Brugge for the second half of the season.

Although those moves did not work out all too well, Birmingham decided to take a punt on him. The Blues have been famous for developing young talents, with their most recent success story being Jude Bellingham, who left for Borussia Dortmund last summer.

And undoubtedly, the United loanee has been brilliant for the St. Andrew’s side this season, having made 13 appearances in the Championship and securing three assists in the process.

However, the youngster recently suffered an injury that is set to rule him out of action for nearly four to five months, according to ESPN correspondent Rob Dawson

It is a shame that the starlet could not continue his development, especially since it would have provided him with some much-needed minutes. Unfortunately, he might now have to undergo a painful recovery process.

On the other hand, if he recovers in two-three months, he might still be able to secure a loan move in the January transfer window and continue his good progress.
