Manchester United receive boost as Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag set to snub Newcastle United job
According to The Mirror (h/t The Sun), Manchester United have received a huge boost as Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag looks set to snub Newcastle United due to their ongoing relegation battle in the Premier League.
The Dutch boss has been widely regarded as one of the top coaches in world football currently due to his work with the Eredivisie giants. The 51-year-old has been at the club for a little over four years now and has guided them to two league titles and a Champions League semi-final in 2019.
His methods of promoting youth into the team and incorporating them with the experienced lot have been enjoyed by fans of the Amsterdam-based outfit. This has also brought him to the attention of some of Europe’s top sides.
Ten Hag is now being actively targeted by three clubs, including Premier League clubs Man United & Newcastle United. The Saudi-backed Toon Army are keen on getting the former Utrecht coach and are also ready to pay him five times as much his current salary of £2million. They have already sacked Steve Bruce after going winless this season after 10 league games.
However, while Newcastle are interested in the Dutchman, he is set to reject the Geordies as they are currently in a relegation battle. He does not want to be a part of it, understandable given the options he already has.
This is a huge boost for the Red Devils, who would be hoping to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with him should the situation demand. The Norwegian is facing the sack at Old Trafford after a poor month of results.

Regardless, with Barcelona also looking to hire the Ajax boss, it remains to be seen whether United can lure him to Manchester by delivering the prospect of managing one of the most successful Premier League clubs of all time.
