Ole Gunnar Solskjaer urged Manchester United players to fight back after Liverpool defeat amidst apparent Eric Bailly outburst

Speaking to The Daily Mail (h/t The Sun), a Manchester United source revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ripped into the dressing room after the defeat to Liverpool on Sunday and urged them to ‘fight back’ together.

The Red Devils got a real lesson on the weekend as Jurgen Klopp and co picked up one of the most historic victories in the Premier League by defeating their arch-rivals 5-0 at Old Trafford.

The performances of all the players were poor across the pitch, with little to no cohesion amongst the entire team. And understandably, Solskjaer did not hold back in the locker room after the game and held the players up for two whole hours

The Norwegian launched a scathing rant and tried to motivate his players to fight back. A club source told Daily Mail (h/t The Sun):

“It was made clear to the players that they all, including the manager, would get battered this week. But the message was that the team either fights each other or fight back together.”

In fact, there was apparent unrest in the dressing room even before this as Eric Bailly had openly questioned the gaffer about his team selection for the Leicester City game, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t The Express].

Maguire, who had just returned from injury ahead of the game against his former club, had trained only once before facing the Foxes. Bailly questioned Solskjaer over why he fielded a ‘centre-back that was not fit.’

The question was legible as the club captain looked off-the-paces and was at fault for two of Leicester’s goals. Thus, the tension behind the scenes is starting to heat up, and it remains to be seen how long Solskjaer can hold to the managerial post in the red half of Manchester.
