Antonio Conte is ready to take over at Manchester United but wants full control of transfers
According to The Sun, Antonio Conte is willing to become the manager of Manchester United but wants complete control over the club’s transfers.
The Italian boss has been largely successful in the last decade, winning the league in both England and Italy. His first big job was the Juventus one as he took the Turin outfit back to the top of Italian football and also re-established them as a Champions League outfit.
His displays with the Old Lady led to him being appointed with the Italy national team. He helped the Azzurri make a deep run in the 2016 European Championship, making it all the way to the final. That was followed by a two-year stint in England with Chelsea where he won the Premier League in his first season and followed it by an FA Cup triumph in the second term.
The 52-year-old then helped Inter Milan to their first Scudetto in a decade before leaving the job earlier this summer. Conte is now linked with the Manchester United job as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finds his position in question after enduring a poor run of games for over a month.
However, the former Inter manager has certain conditions. It is thought that the Italian wants clarification over the leadership plan, decision-making process and direction.
Moreover, he wants full control over the transfers. The 2017 Premier League-winning boss does not wish to continue with United’s policy of signing ‘marketable’ players.
One of the best managers in the world, it is understandable that the 52-year-old has a way of doing things. It makes little sense for Untied to get the Italian but force him to work under their stipulations. Whether they are ready to end their stint under Solskjaer and replace him with Conte remains to be seen.

Most of Conte’s success has come when he has been allowed to bring in players of his choice as he has a specific system of working. However, his track record of winning trophies is sound.
Thus, the ball is now in the court of The Glazers and to-be vice-executive chairman Richard Arnold. If the club does wish to get back to the top of English football, they will need to relinquish some control, and perhaps it could be the right decision in the long term.
