Luke Shaw backs Jadon Sancho to shine for Manchester United after returning from International break
In an interview with Manchester United’s official site before the loss against Leicester City this weekend (h/t Express), Luke Shaw has backed Jadon Sancho to get back to his old form for Manchester United after returning from the international break.
The Red Devils had a pretty impressive transfer window in the summer with stellar acquisitions like Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane but the £72million deal for Jadon Sancho was the icing on the cake. The youngster has been a dependable asset for his former club Borussia Dortmund where he scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 games across all competitions for the German club.
The 21-year-old has failed to replicate that same kind of form with Manchester United this season. He is yet to score his first goal for the Manchester-based club ever since arriving at Old Trafford. With all the pressure and noise surrounding him his fellow teammate, Luke Shaw has come to his support.
The English left-back expressed his opinions on Sancho’s current situation as he feels that the winger is in a great position after the international break and will be filled with confidence and positivity:
“I think it’s not been easy for him at the start here. It normally never is, but in games like that against opposition like that it’s sort of a good game to be involved in, of course, to get minutes, but [also] to build your confidence back up.I can definitely see that in Jadon.
“I’ve been with him at England camp and he looked happy, he looked positive after that game. He’s kept that attitude when he’s come back here and he’s looking happy and ready to go again. He’s looking sharp and he’s always looked sharp. I can see in his eyes he’s ready.”
The Old Trafford outfit have had an indifferent start to the campaign. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like to have everyone on board and return to winning ways after a disappointing 1-1 draw to Everton prior to the international break and a harrowing 4-2 loss to Leicester City recently. The Norwegian manager is yet to win a trophy with the club as a coach and would be looking to change that statistic very soon.

The former Dortmund player has been deployed from the right-wing ever since his arrival at the PL club as opposed to his favoured left-wing position. The change of position along with the change in the playing conditions may have had a nervous effect on the youngster but there is still a long way to go for the 21-year-old who is yet to open his goal-scoring account with the Red Devils.
