Transfer News: Juventus want to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba in January

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti (h/t Sport Witness), Juventus want to sign Manchester United superstar, Paul Pogba, as early as the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old midfielder’s contract at Man United is due to expire in the summer of 2022. And that has pushed the club to enter into desperate contract talks with one of their star names.

There is still interest in Pogba from Real Madrid and while the player could be available for a free transfer next summer, the Old Lady are apparently desperate to land him as soon as possible.

Pogba is also ‘leaning‘ towards staying at Manchester United after a stellar summer window that saw the club sign Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo. But a lot could depend on how this season pans out.

Pogba to Juve?

After a superb start to the season, United have now lost three of their last four games in all competitions. Pogba is undoubtedly a big part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s set-up at Old Trafford.

And the Frenchman being played down the left flank a number of times in recent months, especially in the absence of Marcus Rashford further underlines his utility, versatility, and quality.

He is a midfielder they cannot afford to lose, especially with the current crop of players the club has in that position. One can’t help but think that any move that sees Pogba leave the club will be followed by a big-name signing at Old Trafford.

If the club are sure that Pogba won’t renew his deal, perhaps selling him in January to recoup some of the transfer fees they paid for him in 2016 would be a financially smart move. But with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under pressure to win a trophy this season, it is doubtful if he lets one of his star names leave mid-season.
