According to First Time Finish (h/t Daily Mail), former Paris FC coach Reda Bekhti has compared Manchester United starlet Hannibal Mejbri to club legend Paul Scholes.

The 18-year-old joined United from Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco in 2019. He has since impressed for the Red Devils U-23 side and even made his first-team bow on the last day of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

One of the finest young players to join our project in recent years, Mejbri was held in higher regard even before he joined United. The Red Devils had to beat off competition from both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to land their man.

According to the report, Bekhti has now backed Mejbri to break into the United first team. It is quite the task given the riches at the Red Devils disposal. One can say it is a testament to the youngster’s abilities that he is backed to do just that.

He goes on to add that Mejbri can not only become a leader on the field but also go on to emulate Red Devils legend Paul Scholes. Not small praise given that the Ginger Prince is among the finest players to ever don the club’s colours.

“He can become a future Paul Scholes at Manchester United. He has all the qualities in midfield to become a leader.”

Mejbri was named the club’s Under-23 Player of the Year last season. An attacking midfielder who can do a good job in other areas of the pitch as well, he is slowly yet steadily making a name for himself in Red.
