Transfer News: Barcelona are interested in a deal for Manchester United ace Anthony Martial
According to Eurosport (h/t Sports Mole), Manchester United ace Anthony Martial is on the radar of Spanish giants Barcelona.
The Red Devils currently possess the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood in their ranks, while Marcus Rashford is yet to return from injury.
Thus, game-time has been hard to come by this season for Anthony Martial, who has made a single Premier League start until now, which was against Southampton 4 weeks ago. However, even in that game, the Frenchman was brought off after just an hour.
Since then, the 25-year-old has featured off the bench while the Old Trafford outfit are now ready to let go of him. The £40million rated forward is said to be available for other clubs in January, and Barcelona are now interested in procuring the former Monaco player, according to Eurosport (h/t Sports Mole).
Although Barcelona signed Kun Aguero, Memphis Depay, and Luuk de Jong this summer, they did lose the services of Antoine Griezmann and club legend Lionel Messi. Thus, a move for another forward could be on the cards.
While that is the case, it has also been touted that negotiations over a potential deal for Martial might be complicated due to his huge wages. The French international is currently pocketing £250,000-per-week at Old Trafford, and it remains to be seen how many clubs would be interested in paying such a monstrous salary.

However, Martial is said to be willing to leave United if he cannot establish a starting spot in United’s lineup soon. Thus, with the Frenchman ready to pack his bags coupled with Barcelona’s apparent interest in the 25-year-old, it remains to be seen how long will it be before the forward completes an exit.
