Manchester United star Dean Henderson is pushing for a January loan move
According to The Sun, Manchester United ace Dean Henderson is ready to make a push for a loan move in January after failing to secure a starting spot at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old was retained last season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after an impressive 2019/20 season with Sheffield United. The Englishman had to compete with David de Gea for game-time and managed 26 appearances in all competitions, but only half of them came in the Premier League.
Regardless, it was enough to impress Gareth Southgate as Henderson earned a spot in the England squad for the Euros this summer. Sadly, just days into the tournament, the shot-stopper suffered a hip injury and had to withdraw from the Three Lions squad.
Henderson returned to United’s Carrington complex to recover, and although he looked set to play in pre-season games, fate was going to be harsh again. The 24-year-old was diagnosed with Covid-19, and since then, the Englishman has failed to get back into the senior team.
In fact, it is also understood that the 24-year-old was due to start ahead of De Gea this season but Covid-19 and the weakness after the disease derailed those plans.
Thus, Dean Henderson is now pushing for a January loan move to get some considerable minutes under his belt. The goalkeeper is back in training but has only featured twice with the U-23s so far in a 3-1 loss against Arsenal and in a 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.

De Gea’s good form at the start of the season has also not done any favours for the Englishman, and a loan move in January could help him revive his career. However, it remains to be seen whether the Manchester-based club will be interested in sanctioning a deal for their second-choice goalkeeper.
