Raphael Varane has urged Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United
Speaking to Norwegian broadcaster TV2 (h/t Metro), Raphael Varane has urged Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United amidst uncertainty around his future.
Pogba, who joined re-joined United in a club-record deal worth £89million in 2016, has performed well for the Red Devils and has often shown how important he is to the team. However, in what could be a blow to the Red Devils, the French midfielder could leave on a free transfer at the end of this season.
The 28-year-old has entered into the final year of his current deal at the club and there seems to be no resolution yet over an extension.
Fellow French national teammate Raphael Varane joined the Old Trafford outfit this summer and has given his opinion on the issue and has urged his teammate to stay at the club. Varane told Norwegian broadcaster TV2 (h/t Metro):
‘It is of course his decision, but of course, I hope he stays here for a long time. He is a fantastic player, so undoubtedly I hope he stays.’
The former Real Madrid defender also explained how he talked about his move to United to Pogba.
‘He did not have to convince me that I should move here, but I talked to him about the club to find out what it is like to be here day-to-day. It was important for me to hear his opinions and thoughts about the club, the team, and their ambitions.’
