Latest team news as Manchester United look face West Ham in Carabao Cup third round
According to the latest team news on the official website of Manchester United, the Red Devils are set to go into the Carabao Cup game against West Ham United with quite a few changes.
The Manchester-based club recently picked up a victory against the Hammers in the Premier League, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might not field the same lineup as he did on the weekend. However, Marcus Rashford, Alex Telles and Amad Diallo remain sidelined.
Jesse Lingard, who scored a late winner on Sunday against West Ham, could be a sure-shot starter after his Norwegian boss suggested the same after the game. The likes of Diogo Dalot, Juan Mata, and Edinson Cavani, who is set to return from a minor injury, are yet to start a game this season and could see this is an opportunity to get some minutes.
Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek will also be pushing for a start as both players have only started one game this season and have since given off-the-bench cameo performances.
United’s penalty-saving hero on the weekend, David de Gea, might also be provided with a rest as Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson could be in contention for the game on Wednesday.
The centre-back duo of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly might also be in Solskjaer’s mind, with the pair having played rarely this season after the introduction of Raphael Varane. Additionally, some youngsters could also be thrown into the mix with Anthony Elanga, Shola Shoretire, Hannibal Mejbri, and Teden Mengi raring for first-team action.

West Ham will be entering the game with Michail Antonio back into the squad after he faced a suspension for the weekend game, while Arthur Masuaku could also return from injury.
Thus, in what could be a hugely entertaining third-round fixture, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping his side can do a job against David Moyes’ side for the second time in the space of 4 days.
