Manchester United have welcomed Scott McTominay & Alex Telles back into first-team training
According to the official Twitter account of Manchester United (h/t United in Focus), first-team duo Scott McTominay and Alex Telles have been spotted back in training.
McTominay featured in the season opener for the club against Leeds United and had a good outing as the Red Devils won the game 5-1. However, the Scotsman could not manage the same fate against Southampton after Solskjaer confirmed ahead of the game that the 24-year-old does have an ‘ongoing issue’.
Thus, McTominay only managed to gain some minutes in the dying embers against the Saints. A few days later, the club confirmed that the midfielder has undergone surgery but the Scot did mention that he would be back soon. True to his word, the 24-year-old is now in contention to be involved in the game on Saturday against Newcastle United.
The same follows for Alex Telles, who has been out for more than a month. The Brazilian full-back was available for selection for Solskjaer at the start of the pre-season during mid-July, while he also featured for the club against Championship side Derby County.
However, the 28-year-old went on to miss the next game against Queens Park Rangers, and the Norwegian boss later confirmed that the left-back could be out for a few weeks. Since then, Telles has not featured in any of the pre-season games or the three Premier League games.
The Brazilian, like McTominay, will likely be available for selection for the game against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
The duo has returned to training just in the nick of time as United are set to play 7 games in 22 days, including two Champions League games and an EFL Cup game.
