Injury forces Manchester United starlet Jadon Sancho to withdraw from England national team duty
According to a statement released by the FA (h/t The Athletic) [Subscription Required], Manchester United star, Jadon Sancho, has withdrawn from the England national team due to a ‘minor knock’.
The winger did not feature against Hungary in England’s Group I FIFA World Cup qualifiers match earlier this week. The Three Lions went on to win 4-0 on a night that would probably not be remembered for the right reasons.
The statement by The FA confirms that Sancho will not play any part in England’s upcoming qualifiers against Andorra and Poland. It went on to add:
“Following further assessment, the 21-year-old has returned to his club and is expected to recover in time for Manchester United’s fixture with Newcastle United on Saturday 11 September.”
Jadon out of England squad
That should put United fans’ minds at ease. If he does recover before Man United’s game against Newcastle on 11th September, then hopefully this minor knock isn’t something to be worried about for the club.
The 21-year-old winger has had an eventful summer to say the very least. The Red Devils splashed some serious cash to bring him to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in a £73million deal.
And as for his time with the Three Lions, he was one of the three players to miss a penalty in England’s penalty shootout loss to Italy at the final hurdle of the 2020 UEFA Euros. But that’s all in the past.

Sancho, 21, has a bright future that awaits him. If he continues to develop, then the former Manchester City winger can truly become one of the top wingers in English football – if he isn’t already.
