Manchester United players celebrate scoring a goal against Wolves.

Manchester United are now the team with the highest consecutive Premier League away victories

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United broke a long-standing Premier League record yesterday after they defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in the club’s last game before the international break.

The Red Devils have now become the team with the highest consecutive (28) Premier League away victories in the history of the league.

The Old Trafford outfit levelled this record of 27- previously held by Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles Arsenal- last weekend when they faced Southampton at St. Mary’s and got a draw out of the game, despite going down by a goal in under half an hour.

The Manchester-based outfit showed similar resolve yesterday as Wolves were making it incredibly hard for the like of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba to create clear-cut chances. It looked like United were going to lose out on the record once Jadon Sancho was also substituted. However, the Red Devils showed resilience in their ranks.

Mason Greenwood, who has now scored three goals in three games, fired a shot past Jose Sa, and it was powerful enough to find the back of the net. The teenager has been brilliant since the start of the season, and he ensured that United achieved the historic record on the day.

The Old Trafford outfit started this unbelievable run of victories back in February 2020, when they beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire.

Since then, the club have had incredible come-back victories and have had their resolve tested over the last 18 months. The club’s next away game will be on the second weekend after the international break i.e., 19th September against West Ham United.

With United now also boasting the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, we could go on to set many more records in the Premier League.
