Transfer News: David Moyes trying to persuade Jesse Lingard to make the switch to West Ham from Manchester United
According to Claret & Hugh, as cited by Louis (West Ham Central) on Twitter (h/t Read West Ham), Manchester United star Jesse Lingard reportedly linked up with David Moyes after the Red Devils won against Wolves to discuss a possible transfer.
Earlier this week, news was rife with speculation regarding Lingard’s future as both Everton and West Ham were trying to secure the 28-year-old’s signature, with the latter also preparing a £15million bid for the attacking midfielder, according to Sunday Mirror (h/t Read West Ham).
Given that Everton could also make a late swoop for the Englishman, Moyes felt it was necessary to meet the United man so as to convince him of the project in East London.
Lingard, who failed to feature in a single Premier League game for the Old Trafford outfit in the first half of last season, joined the Hammers on loan for the second half of the season in the search for consistent game-time.
The 28-year-old was sublime for the East London club as he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 Premier League appearances, while he also helped the club secure a place in the Europa League by finishing 6th in the league table.
Lingard’s performances were so impressive that Gareth Southgate recalled the player to the national setup and even named him in the provisional 33-man squad for the Euros. Although the midfielder failed to feature in the 26-man final squad for the Three Lions, it was a recognition of how well he had performed in the last 6 months.

While a future at United did look possible until last weekend, the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo i.e., another forward, could mean that 28-year-old will suffer for game-time, and a loan move could be the best option.
Although there is nothing certain yet, Lingard will have to act fast if he wants to complete a move to the London Stadium as there are less than 48 hours left before the transfer window shuts.
