Donny van de Beek could remain at Manchester United beyond the summer

According to an interview done on De Telegraaf (h/t The Mirror) by the agent of Donny van de Beek, the player could be staying at Manchester United this summer.

The 24-year-old, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, has suffered for game-time ever since he made the switch to England from Ajax last year for £35.7million.

Additionally, he is also yet to feature in the Premier League for the club this season after being an unused substitute against both Leeds United and Southampton. However, the player does seem to have a future at the club and is said to be ‘happy’.

Van de Beek might stay at Old Trafford despite exit rumours

Talking to De Telegraaf (h/t The Mirror) about the 24-year-old’s situation, Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers said:

“Everyone within the club knows that Donny cannot have another season like last year. In preparation, clarity would be provided about his role”.

Albers went on to explain how he is confident that the midfielder would have a role to play at the club this season.

“The fans had already embraced him before, but the most important thing is that the coach has now provided clarity in the English press. We are happy with that. I assume that Donny will play a lot in one of the positions in midfield in the coming period”.

It's wiser for Man United to hand Donny van de Beek more gametime rather than searching for new midfielders.

More Manchester United News

Although United have been linked with the likes of Saul Niguez, Ruben Neves, and Eduardo Camavinga this summer, none of the moves have materialized. Moreover, with Paul Pogba yet to sign a new contract at the club coupled with Nemanja Matic’s contract expiring in two years, United could really use the services of the midfielder.

If the Red Devils do plan on winning the biggest titles, they would need quality depth– something Van de Beek can provide and will be hoping to as he looks to contribute more to the Old Trafford outfit this season.
